Ayeyarwaddy

Location
Ayeyawaddy Division is situated at the southern end of the central plains of Myanmar. There is Bago Division in the north, Bago and Yangon Divisions in the east, Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal in the south and west. It is essentially a delta region with an area of 13,566 square miles.

Population
The population of the division is 6,663,000, highest among the states/divisions of Myanmar.

Inhabitants
In Ayeyawaddy Division, Bamar and Kayin nationals form the majority of the population. Some Rakhine nationals can also be found in western coastal region.

Religion
The majority of people follow Buddhism but there are also many Christians and Muslims.

Dialects
Myanmar is the common language.

How to get there?
Pathein is the capital of Ayeyarwaddy division, and it is about 4 hours drive from Yangon. Chaung Tha and Ngwe Saung Beaches are accessible by road from Pathein. Chaung Tha beach is located 40 km west of Pathein. Ngwe Saung is a newly opened beach about 48 km from Pathein.
