| Myanmar Government joins international community in voicing its opposition to any move to link incidents in Tibet with Beijing Olympic Games
NAY PYI TAW, 27 March - The Union of Myanmar and the People's Republic of China have traditionally maintained close and cordial relations based on the pauk-phaw kinship, mutual understanding and good neighbourliness throughout the long history.
The existing pauk-phaw relationship is based upon the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence, which also include the cardinal principle of non-interference in each other's affairs.
The Government of the Union of Myanmar therefore views the recent occurrences in the Tibet Autonomous Region as purely the internal affairs of the People's Republic of China. Myanmar is fully confident that the Chinese Government with all its wisdom and far-sightedness will overcome the challenges successfully and will be able to maintain the domestic peace and stability.
Moreover, the Government of the Union of Myanmar also joins the international community in voicing its opposition to any move to link the incidents in Tibet with Beijing Olympic Games.
