Bus lines hike fares in Yangon
Bus fares for all bus lines running in Yangon have been increased officially from today (16 August). Buses operating under the umbrella of All Bus Lines Control Committee, Western District, Northern District, Southern District, Shwe Innwa and Thanmyanthu lines have formally raised their fare from 40 Kyat to 100 Kyat, 60 Kyat to 150 Kyat and 80 Kyat to 200 Kyat for different routes and to 200/250 Kyat according to the distance.

Factory fire kills two in Hlinetharyar
A massive fire at a garment factory in Hlinetharyar Industrial Zone (2) killed two people and destroyed a 1.3 billion Kyat installation. The fire which started at 10:15 a.m. this morning (15 August) at Friendship garment factory also injured seven factory workers and one Fire Department personnel. Also lost in the inferno are one saloon car, one pick-up truck, one CNG-powered Dyna truck and one van, according to the owner of the doomed factory.

New cement factory to pave Yangon's roads
Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) and Fong Fei Company of China have signed an agreement on 1 August to build Pyinnyaung Cement Factory.
