Wi-Max is a new broadband-like system

Wi-Max technology which has been introduced by Myanmar Teleport recently is similar to the broadband system which has already been in use for sometime, according to a technician.

"Broadband Wi-Max system is comparable to the current broadband system. It is an outdoor unit. In terms of technology, broadband Wi-Max system is far superior to the ordinary broadband. User of Wi-Max can use VoIP in addition to other standard features," a technician told the Internet Journal.  

Individuals and organizations applying for broadband Wi-Max system can choose from three bandwidth options and the system will allow the subscribers to use high-speed internet and email, internet-based VoIP telephone line and those who does not have a telephone line will get an extra VoIP telephone line which can be used for internet and email access.

Initial setup fee of the broadband Wi-Max system, which can only be available in Yangon municipal area, is FEC 1 500 and subscribers will have to pay a minimum monthly fee of
FEC 45.    

Those who are interested to apply for an internet connection using the broadband Wi-Max technology can make enquiries at No 617, Pyay Road (in front of Marlar Hall), Kamayut Township or by calling 515 250.
