THE Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) held a meeting at Parkroyal
Hotel from October 24 to 26 to introduce its comprehensive programs
and plans to participants from partner national societies that
provide funding for MRCS.
The participants were from partner national Red Cross societies
in the United States, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany
and France, as well as from the International Committee of the
Red Cross and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent
Societies.
Officials from MRCS headquarters and from division and state
branches also attended the meeting.
The participants discussed future plans, priorities and challenges
based on the society’s national strategies plan for 2007
to 2010 and followed up on the lessons learnt from the previous
meeting held in 2004.
The MRCS national strategy plan includes five program areas
– organisational development, health and care, disaster
management, coordination and cooperation, and financial resource
development.
Operational plans were also presented for conducting programs
in each region of the country and for each year of the plan, including
specific goals, key strategies and objectives.
