THE government of Japan provided US$89,871 to the Ministry of
Livestock and Fisheries last week as part of its grassroots grant
assistance program to improve facilities at the Mandalay regional
veterinary diagnostic laboratory.
The funding will be used to buy new diagnostic and laboratory
equipment, as well as personal protective gear.
Dr Kyaw Sunn, director of the department’s Research and
Disease Control Division, said Japan also planned to provide a
grant to upgrade the department’s central veterinary lab
in Yangon.
