Q&A with up-and-coming young actress Thet Mon Myint

By Zo Puii

Q: What would you be if you were not a performer?

A: I would be working as an economist, because that is what I studied at university.

Q: How do you define the term “actor”?

A: To me an actor is someone who immerses themselves completely in the character they are playing.

Q: If you could be in any film, what kind of film would you choose make?

A: I am very interested in stories that depict relationships between brothers and sisters.

Q: What is your ultimate ambition in the film industry?

A: Like other actors, I want to be at the top of my field. The Academy Award is the highest honour for an actor, so I want to win one.

Q: How do you define love?

A: I don’t know how to define love. However, love can take many different forms such as the love between parents and children, the love between brothers and sisters and the love between humans and animals. Romantic love is not the only kind of love there is.

Q: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

A: Nothing.

Q: What is your favourite part of the day?

A: I like the nighttime, especially after all my family members go to bed. It is completely quiet so I can give my full attention to whatever I am doing.

Q: Do you prefer a pitch black moonless night or a moonlit night?

A: I am scared of the dark when there is no moon. But I enjoy bright moonlit nights. Seeing the full moon gives me a sense of tranquility.

Q: What is your greatest fear in life?

A: I’m afraid of having no qualities or capabilities — of not being good at anything.

Q: What is your greatest regret so far in your life?

A: There is really nothing big, just a few small mistakes that I made because I didn’t know any better.

Q: If you could travel back in time, what would you change about your life?

A: I would bring my late brother back. He died when I was in the ninth grade and I wish he could see all that I have achieved now. I really miss him.
