LOCATED in the heart of Mandalay City, The Myanmar Times House
of the Week is a large and elegant two-storey home built in the
tradition that suggests an imposing home must have a great owner.
Eight double-storey columns support a deep portico with its
own chandelier and a balcony beneath it, set over the heavy, wooden
front doors. An equally tall mirror-glass window beside the main
entrance towers up to the roof of the house.
Inside, six bedrooms – two master and one single on each
floor – ensure there is plenty of space for all.
Next to a huge spiral staircase with wooden beams and large
railing is access to the home’s double garage, where servant’s
quarters are also available.
A spacious kitchen can double as a dining room.
On the second floor, a large chandelier hangs in the living
room, which has access to the balcony above the front door.
A master bedroom on the other side of the stairway also has
its own balcony. All en suites have hot water showers.
Water should not be a problem here as there is a well and a
steel storage tank to the left of the house.
There is teak parquet flooring throughout.
Extensive use of mirror-glass in the house’s plentiful
windows mean tenants can enjoy great views without compromising
their privacy.
The garden consists primarily of a lawn in front of the house,
and there is little room around the sides of the building.
The house is painted a creamy colour with a hint of pink, and
has an eye-catching, sea-blue roof.
