THE Indian President, Mr A P J Abdul Kalam, arrived in Yangon last Wednesday for a landmark goodwill visit, which was expected to include the signing of an important memorandum of understanding on the sale of natural gas to India.

 

A CEREMONY was held at the International Business Centre on Pyay Road on March 8 to mark International Women’s Day, a global celebration of the economic, social, cultural and political achievements of women.

THE Ministry of Education has introduced a new system for supplementary examinations for university students, effective for the 2005-2006 academic year, that limits opportunities to pass in subjects that they had failed during the first exam.

 

“People are interested in iPods because they’re new in the market but they tend to pause as they check out the price and then choose one of the other MP3 players,”

 

“We charge members K1000 for three hours, K5000 for 20 hours for special members and K450 per hour for irregular customers. Most of our customers are office staff and students,”

 

The opening night film Water Boys, a musical comedy about five high school boys trying to become a top synchronised swimming team, had the audience rolling around with laughter, some to the point of tears.

 

“We stayed together with students from Shanghai, Australia and the Philippines. So, we were representing our school and our country and we had to behave very well, clean up after ourselves and be on time,” she recalled to the Myanmar Times.
