A RELUCTANCE on the part of home-owners in Yangon to risk too
much of their investment on quirky or creative designs has meant
a lot of the homes on the market are painfully similar. The same
designs and – if you pay for it – those same Corinthian
pillars.
This week, however, the Myanmar Times brings you a touch of
the Mediterranean, with arches and warm, earthy colours on a sun-baked
section.
The house is brand new and is awaiting only a lawn for its completion.
Three tall archways, each holding a small spot bulb, shelter
the lawn from public view and provide dim lighting, ideal for
a night-dining outside.
The interior of the house is bright and breezy. A trail of colourful
pictures lead to three equally colourful bedrooms – bright
yellow, dark blue and bright green – each with their own
bathroom.
The house is deceptively large and merges into a two-storey
building at the rear. There are two kitchens, one on the “ground
floor”, which is intended for preparing snacks and drinks,
and another down a set of stairs at the back, which is designed
for preparing larger meals. The larger – purple –
kitchen doubles as a wine cellar.
Also downstairs are two single bedrooms, suitable for a maid
and security.
A secluded basement room assures peace and quiet for those who
wish to work from home, or perhaps just for aspiring musicians
to hammer out a few heavy chords without disturbing the whole
household.
The compound is a generous 7200 square feet and offers plenty
of space for residents to add their own, personal touch.
