ON July 23, the government provided 200 piglets, bags of foodstuffs
good for one month, two fire engines, and eight tractors to the
Shan State National Army (SSNA) Brigade-6, SSNA Brigade-11, SSNA
Brigade-19 and Palaung State Liberation Army (PSLA) group.
At the ceremony celebrating the unconditional exchange of arms
for peace, held in Lashio township, northern Shan State, Minister
of Livestock and Fisheries, Brigadier-General Maung Maung Thein,
handed over the piglets and bags of foodstuff worth over K10 million
to Shan and Palaung national race leaders.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Brigadier-General
Pyi Sone, gave the Palaung national race leader two fire engines,
while Agriculture and Irrigation Major-General Htay Oo donated
five tractors to the Palaung and three tractors to the Shan national
leader.
“This special donation, arranged by the Central Committee
for Drug Abuse Control, has been provided to promote sustainable
development in the agriculture and livestock sectors in Shan State,”
said Dr Aung Gyi, an associate secretary from the Livestock Unit
under the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control.
He said this good deed is something that the government and all
people should be proud of.
