OFFICE space rentals in hotels and commercial buildings in Yangon are surging as leasers offer better services and facilities in response to strong competition, industry sources said last week.The four-storey International Business Centre (IBC) on Pyay Road is one building that has experienced an upswing in occupancy.

 

NINE domestic gem trading companies will represent Myanmar at the Bangkok Gems and Jewellery Fair 2005, to be held from February 22 to 27 at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre in the Thai capital.

 

“Many of our customers prefer red roses . . . (but) we have a variety of gifts and flowers, and we also provide a packaging and delivery service for K1500,” he said.

Commodity prices in general did not change noticeably last week at Yangon’s Bayintnaung Complex. However, the beans and pulses market was active due to high export demand, especially from China, sources at the complex said.

PROPERTY experts last week highlighted the need for officials to enforce stair width regulations in Yangon, since many structures have been built with narrow stairways that threaten the safety of residents.

ROCKER Mariza, who has been silent for more than two years as far as music goes, is back with his original composition modern rock album Zat Paung (Happy Ending). Recorded at the Metal Zone studio with the Metal Zone band , it was released on February 15.

 

“Tourists are interested in Myanmar art, particularly images of the Buddha or monks,” said artist U Myint Soe, who has been a painter for 30 years.
