PERFORMANCE art, say its devotees, covers a wide range of activities, and many of these were on show at the international performance art festival in Kamayut on January 29 and 30.

 

 
THE saying goes that “a love affair is like gardening”. Great care and patience are needed to grow a plant. Likewise, those same things are necessary to grow the tree of love. If we don’t give proper care to a new plant, it can wither and die. If we don’t look after love properly, it will do the same.
 
“The point of selling our VCD at K500, which is equal to the cheap pirated VCDs, is to fight against them. A producer needs to spend many billion of kyats to produce an album.
 
Traditional music and dance began the celebration and the audience of all ages joined in. The Shan long drums, gongs and martial arts dancing made everyone feel homesick until they burst out laughing at an Inlay song by Inlay Shan youths.
 
     

He said he has always been crazy for reggae. “From the time I first heard Bob Marley I have been excited about this music. Reggae is very free and it has its own style. I liked it a lot, I still do. I have released more than 20 reggae songs.”

 

POP and alternative singer Alex, punk singer Kyar Pauk and the group ‘Living Room from Far Away’ - which is a very strange name - combined to record this album. The title is also a little weird – Ka Kha Gha Gha Nga – the first five letters in the Myanmar alphabet.

 

 

ON the night of February 6, to celebrate the Chinese new year, the Trees, led by more than 20 different singers performed at the Golden Dragon Hall Lion City Restaurant in Hlaing Township.Sadly, the hall was only half filled, but those who were there were treated to a great concert.

 

Director U Kyi Soe Tun ,who also entered True Love in the ASEAN best film competition, said the competition was fierce and the style of Myanmar films made it more difficult to win. “The judges choose films which give viewers something to think about, because they themselves are thinkers,” he said.

 

 

Over the last couple of years, Myanmar cotton has started to overtake imported materials as the fabric of choice for those having new clothes made. Not only is cotton cool and comfortable, but it is also considerably cheaper than the synthetic blends brought in from other countries.

- U Tin Aung Htike’s Water Colour Poetry-2 will be at New Treasure Art Gallery in Bahan township until March 1.Buddha by artist Koung Sei Thu will on show at Alliance Francaise, 340, Pyay Road until February 28.
