ARTIST Nyein Chan Su is exhibiting an exciting new collection
at Sedona hotel this month in a flurry of colour that is eye-catching
and clever.
Artist Chan Nyein Kyaw also showed paintings at the Azada art
gallery in an exhibition that ended last week, which proved as
colourful and lively as Nyein Chan Su’s.
Nyein Chan Su’s ten-painting series is entitled Dreamscape
and the artist has explored landscapes and horizons using bright,
playful colours and steady, controlled strokes and lines. The
artist has abandoned any attempt at realism or conventional style,
in a bid to express his mood through colour.
“All my previous paintings were of landscapes but these
are dreamscapes. They reveal my emotions and are an expression
of my interpretations of landscape,” Nyein Chan Su said.
Veteran artist U Win Pe Myint said Nyein Chan Su’s paintings
left viewers unclear of his intentions and motivations.
“His art is not about subjects that we usually see and
we don’t know exactly what he is trying to say. This means
the viewer is able to see what they want in the paintings and
derive whatever meaning they like from them,” U Win Pe Myint
said.
Nyein Chan Su’s paintings will be on display until October
16 and are priced between US$3000 and $5000.
Chan Nyein Kyaw’s paintings reveal his passion for cubism
and his landscapes and traditional Buddha images are divided into
geometric shapes comprising vivid hues of pink and blue.
“I enjoy describing different subjects in this way and
I am slowly defining my own style,” Chan Nyein Kyaw said.
The paintings in Chan Nyein Kyaw’s recent exhibition are
reasonably priced at FEC200.
