THE importance of human resources development to promote quality
health care was highlighted by the Health Minister, Dr Kyaw Myint,
in a speech to open a training course in Yangon on October 4.
Dr Kyaw Myint said the quality of health care services would
be improved through a combination of highly qualified staff and
the use of modern equipment.
The 23-day course at the ministry’s training school in
Dagon township is being attended by 34 government medical officers
from throughout the country.
The course covers such topics as leadership and management,
public health and treatment, methods for managing disease control
and the use of information technology for communication and data
collection.
The director of health information at the Department of Health
Planning, Dr Daw Tin Lin Myint, said at the event that more than
50 health care projects were being implemented by the government,
of which 18 were regarded as being essential.
They included projects involving primary medical care, health
education, nutrition, immunisation, mental health, sexually transmitted
diseases and HIV-AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, diarrhoea, environmental
sanitation and school health.
