SINGER Hay Mar Ne Win’s comeback concert, held at Sedona hotel last week, was highly successful, with many of her old fans eager to see her on stage for the first time in two years.It was a private concert and tickets were issued by Hay Mar to close friends and colleagues, making the atmosphere relaxed and friendly despite a crowd of about 1000.

 
When your fans and the press are interested in what you wear, who you see and what you do, it can be hard to find a moment of peace, let alone time to spend on your own or with family and friends.
 
Maung Su Shin, who received a golden harp award for literature, said during his acceptance speech, he was proud to be in the company of such talented people “Benevolence has beauty. Today’s award recipients are bright stars and their light glows across the country,” he said.

MOST people know Madalay Thein Zaw as a performance artist specialising in zat pwe or traditional theatre, but Thein Zaw said his time as a traditional dancer and actor has passed, as traditional theatre has fallen into decline.

 

TUCKED away behind a large cement wall on the corner of Inya and Dhammazedi roads, Onyx restaurant is a well-hidden haven for people craving western food at Myanmar prices.At first glance the inside of the restaurant is suspiciously hip.

 

Singapore designer, Silhouette was responsible for the international wedding dresses and designers Khin San Win and Taunggyi Aung Aung produced the traditional Myanmar gowns and groom’s wear. With the wedding season here, the designs were clearly of interest to many young couples at the event.

 

The music concerts
- The band Emperor will play in concert at Strand hotel on October 9 at 7pm. Tickets can be bought at the door and will cost between K5000 and K6000.
- The Hip Hop Fever concert will be held at the Strand hotel on October 10, featuring a variety of singers and boy-bands. The tickets cost K4000 and can be bought in advance from Ko Ko Beauty salons. The concert starts at 3pm.
