SHINE Construction Company will begin building the accommodation
to be used by the delegates of the ASEAN Summit in Yangon in 2006,
the company told Myanmar Times last week.
“We plan to finish (the project) by June, 2006, before
the ASEAN Summit,” U Aung Zaw Win, managing director of
Shine, said.
“I am very proud of having a chance to do this project
because the officials who come to the ASEAN Summit will stay here
(at Shine Tower 9). Aside from that, this project is in the downtown
area so we are confident it will sell.”
Shine Tower 9, a ten-storey residential building on Mahabandoola
Garden Street in Kyauktada township, will be developed on 0.35
acres of Ministry of Home Affairs land. Shine will therefore pass
20 per cent of the building over to the ministry, Shine’s
managing director, U Aung Zaw Win, said.
“We will give the fourth, fifth and sixth floors to the
Ministry of Home Affairs. The fourth floor will be used as the
meeting hall of the ministry,” he said.
The original plan had been to build a 20-storey building, but
due to car-parking requirements, plans were changed, he added.
The car park will be situated in the basement, with a shopping
centre on the ground and first floors.
Shine plans to invest K2 billion in the project.
The apartments, which will range in size from 1457 square foot
to 2075 sq ft, will feature three bedrooms, a living room and
a dining room. Two lifts will be installed in the building.
The company has not fixed prices on apartments at the project
yet but will begin sales in November, the end of Buddhist Lent,
when the market is expected to pick up, U Aung Zaw Win said.
