The
ceremony to mark The Day of Six Billion was held at the International Business
Center of Pyay Road with Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt in attendance.
Present on the occasion were the ministers, the deputy ministers, the vice-mayor of Yangon, senior military officers, heads of departments, ambassadors, resident representatives and officials of UN agencies, representatives of NGOs, prize winners and guests.
Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt delivered an address on the occasion.
Country Director of UNFPA Dr Sheila Macrae then made a speech.
Next,
the Secretary 1 presented prizes to Daw Khaing Khaing Soe who stood
first
in Day of Six Billion commemorative article competition, U Hla Kywe (Thekkatho
Hla Kywe), second, and Ko Thet Oo ( Ko Thet Oo- Myawady TV), third,
Minister for Ministry of Immigration and Population U Saw Tun presented prizes to winners in primary, middle and high school levels of Day of Six Billion commemorative poster competition.
In
primary school level, the first prize went to Maung Zin Ko Ko, fourth standard
student of No 1 Basic Education High School, Kyimyindine Township, second
prize
to Maung Ye Win Thein, fourth standard student of No 1 BEPS Latha Township,
and third prize to Maung Yaza Thant Zin, fourth standard student of No 5 BEPS
Dagon Township.
In
middle school level, Maung Kaung Myat Min Soe, fifth standard student of Practising
School of Institute of Education, won the first prize, Ma Su Win Htaik,
sixth standard student of No 1 BEHS, Dagon Township, the second prize, and
Maung Kyaw Zay Han, sixth standard student of Practising School of Institute
of Education, the third prize.
In high school level, Ma Aye Myat Mon, ninth standard student of No 1 BEHS, Dagon Township, won the first prize, Maung Nay Zaw Aung, eighth standard student of No 1 BEHS, Dagon Township, the second prize, and Ma Win Ei Cho, eighth standard student of No 1 BEHS, Pabedan Township, the third prize.
UNFPA Country Director Dr Sheila Macrae presented prizes to winners in the Day of Six Billion commemorative essay competition.
In the middle school level of the competition, Ma Thiri Zeya, seventh standard student of No 4 Basic Education High School, Pazundaung Township, won the first prize, Maung Okkar Soe, seventh standard student of No 2 BEMS Bahan Township, the second prize, and Ma Nwe Wint Aung, seventh standard student of No 1 BEHS, Mayangon Township, the third prize.
In
high school level, Ma Lin Lin Lu, ninth standard student of No 1 Basic Education
High School, North Okkalapa Township won the first prize Ma May Myat Win,
ninth standard student of Prsactising School of Institute of Education, the
second prize, Ma Yuzana Thawda, ninth standard student of No 2 BEHS, Sangyoung
Township,
the third prize.
