estimation is one of the main tasks of the Department of Population |

The
followings are the procedures involved in the estimation of population : |

Estimates
population based on census and demographic surveys data and population statistics
obtained from Township Immigration and Registration offices. |

|
Compile,
validate and consolidate township level population data up to the Union
level every four months |
| |
|
Collaborate
with Department of Immigration and National Registration to obtain accurate,
reliable and timely population statistics |
| |
|
Provide
official estimated population statistics to the Government Ministries, Departments,
United Nations Agencies, and NGOs on request through the ministry. |
