1982 Myanmar Citizenship Law was enacted on 15-10-1982 and procedures on Myanmar Citizenship Law on 20-9-1983. After enacting the Myanmar Citizenship Law Citizenship scrutiny Cards were issued to those residing in the country. Citizenship tasks were introduced on 1-3-1985.

Task Performance of Immigration and National Registration Department
1982 MYANMAR CITIZENSHIP LAW
Based on the 1982 Myanmar Citizenship Law and the 1983 procedures, the following tasks were conducted from 1st March 1985 -
( 1 ) Registration birth and death and issuing certificates
( 3 ) Issuing age ( 10 ) Citizenship Naing ( 3 ) and Citizenship
Scrutiny card Naing 3 ( A )
( 3 ) Issuing age ( 18 ) Citizenship Naing ( 6 ) and Citizenship
Scrutiny card Naing 6 ( A )
According to the Myanmar Citizenship Law 1982, measures have been taken to issue the Citizenship Scrutiny cards to those who are eligible to be Myanmar citizens. Similarly, attention has been given to take measures not to issue Citizenship Scrutiny cards to those who are not eligible to be Myanmar citizens in order to safeguard the Race and Religion of Myanmar.

q The Myanmar Immigration ( Emergency Provisions ) Act 1947.
Section 3(1) - Prohibition of entry without immigration permit or duly visa passport.
q According to the Myanmar Immigration (Emergency Provisions ) Act 1947, any Myanmar Citizen and Foreigner must not enter / depart illegally. Action will be taken against them according to the following sections:-
Section 3(1) -No foreigners shall enter the Union of Myanmar without an immigration permit or a valid passport duly visa.
Section 3(2) -No citizen of Union of Myanmar shall enter the Union without a valid Union of Myanmar passport.
The section which take action against violating the above are: -
(a) Section 13 (1) - Minimum of six months to a maximum of five years or with fine of a minimum of k-1500 or with both.
(b) Section 13(2) - The carrier knowingly brings or attempts to bring into the Union of Myanmar any person not authorized to enter the Union of Myanmar shall be liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend from a minimum of six months to a maximum of five years or to a fine of a minimum of k-1500 for ever such person brought or attempted to be brought into Myanmar or to both.
(c) Whoever assists or attempts any person to enter the Union of Myanmar illegally or knowing that a foreigners is remaining in the Union of Myanmar in contravention of any of the provisions of this Act or the rules made there under assists or attempts to assist him to remain in the Union of Myanmar shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend from a minimum of six months to a maximum of five years or with fine of a minimum of k-1500 or with both.
q The law Relating to Overseas Employment and the Criminal Law are as follows : -
(a) According to Section (26 ) of the law Relating to Overseas Employment -
Whoever performs the service Agent functions without the Service Agent License, shall, on conviction be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.
(b) According to Section (367) of the Criminal law-
Whoever kidnaps or abducts any person in order that such person may be subjected, or may be so disposed of or may be put in danger of being subjected, to grievous hurt or slavery, or to the unnatural lust of any person, or knowing it to be likely that such person will be so subjected or disposed of shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.
(c) According to Section 120(b) (1) of the Criminal law-
Whoever is a party to a criminal conspiracy to commit an offence punishable with death, transportation or vigorous imprisonment for a term of two years or upwards or shall, where no express provision is made in this code for the punishment of such a conspiracy, be punished in the same manner as if he had abetted such offence.
q The Myanmar Immigration (Emergency Provisions) Act, 1947.
Section 3(2) - No citizen of the Union of Myanmar shall enter the Union without a valid Union of Myanmar passport.
Section 7(1) - Upon illegal entrant of a foreigner he is taken action and is liable to deportation and detention before being deported.
Section 7(2) - Upon illegal entrant of a foreigner he is deported without being taken of action and may be detailed before deportation.
Section 4(1) - Permits and passport visas shall be subject to such conditions as may be prescribed and also to such conditions as may be set out in the permit as visa.
Section 4(2) - All such conditions shall be deemed to be conditions for allowing the holder of such permit or visa to enter or remain in the Union of Myanmar.
q Responsibility of the Immigration Teams for Prevention of Illegal Immigrants
(a) Departing not more than ten illegal immigrants at one time from the border under sub-section 7(2) of the Myanmar Immigration (Emergency Provisions )Act.
(b) Searching and confiscating contraband is accordance with the Customs law.
(c) Taking action against those who violate the Criminal Code.
(d) Awards offered to any person who has contributed in any way to arrest and provide information of illegal entrants.
(e) Appropriating the expenditure for sentry posts and for deportees before their departure.
(f) Arresting without warrant illegal immigrants under section -10 of the Myanmar Immigration (Emergency Provisions) Act.
(g) Deporting not more than ten illegal immigrants from the border under Sub-section 7(2) of the Myanmar Immigration (Emergency Provisions) Act in the presence of at least two members.
(h) Arresting the illegal immigrants who enter the country without permission from the border and deporting them under sub-section 7 (2) of the Myanmar Immigration (Emergency Provisions) Act in the presence of at least one member.
(i) Searching and confiscating contraband in accordance with the Customs Law and apprehending carries of controlled goods.
Trafficking in Persons to the neighbouring country.
1. Under the leadership of the local authorities from the respective states and divisions of the porous border areas relevant information campaigns and talks and discussions are being carried out with the Co-operation of Myanmar National Committee for women's affairs, Myanmar Police Force, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
2 Relating to the prevention of trafficking in women and children, the Department of Immigration and National Registration monitors the enforcement of the prescribed laws, rules and regulations. The Department also Cooperates and Coordinates with the Department of Social welfare, Myanmar National Committee for Women's Affairs and regional authorities concerned thus contributing towards combating trafficking.
