PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRIES Myanma
Pharmaceutical Industries (MPI) is one of the six state-owned Myanmar
Industries under the Ministry of Industry (1) engaged in the production
of variety of specific pharmaceutical and consumer goods. It
was previously named as Pharmaceutical Industries Corporation. In
1989, the name of the corporation was changed to Myanma Pharmaceutical
Industries to be in line with New Market Oriented System, adopted
in the country in late 1988.
Factories
under Myanma Pharmaceutical Industries consist of Myanma Pharmaceutical
Factory, Soap Factories, Soap Raw Oil Factory, Plastic Factories
and Cosmetic Industry. Apart from these factories there is a Development
Centre for Pharmaceutical Technology in Gyogon, Yangon which was
establishd by the financial and technical assistance of Japanese
International Cooperation Agency. MPI
producing the following range of commodities:- *Pharmaceutical and Related Products:- - Powder, Liquid, Ointment, Tablets and
Capsules (including Provimin tablets), Injections (including Liquid
Transfusions in plastic bottles), Biological products (including
Anti-snake Venoms) *Soap Products:- - Laundry soap (Bar Soap), Toilet Soap,
Crude Glycerine, Refined Glycerine. *Oil Products:- - Hydrogenated industrial fatty acid,
Residual oil, Stearic Acid, Coconut Oil, Refined Oil and Vegetable
"GHEES" *Plastic Products:- - Plain and embossed plastic sheetings,
Artificial leather, PVC rigid and flexible pipes, Plastic bags and
tubes, Injection Products, PP plastic woven bags, PP/Kraft-paper
lamination woven bags. *Cosmetic and Toilet Products:- - Tooth-paste, Baby powder/ Face powder,
Talcum powder, Thanakha lotion, Eau-de-cologne, Hair cream/ Shampoo/
Snow Cream. - Establishment of a new pharmaceutical factory on JV basis - Renovation and development of the existing
pharmaceutical factory. - Mutual co-operation in the field of
manufacturing pharmaceuticals and healthcare products. - Mutual co-operation in the field of
soap, tooth-paste and toilet goods productions. - Mutual co-operation in the field of
manufacturing plastic goods such as plastic sheeting and artificial
leather, pipes and appliances, film, tubes, shopping bags, plastic
